In the most recent chapters there seems to be a lot of pointing fingers, and suspicion, and questioning between Hester, Chillingworth, Mr. Dimmesdale, and Pearl. Although most of the questioning comes from Pear, whom is questioning about the meaning behind the scarlet letter that she always wears, and Chilingworth, who is trying to find the "darkness" that Dimmesdale hides. Even though he is a good man who made a mistake. The other two are the "innocent" targets, attacked but these questions and suspicions. Chillingworth thinks there is so much more behind Dimmesdale than the kindness he shown, he is wrong of course but Chillingworth is determined to find it. Pearl on the other hand continually questions her mother of the scarlet letter that is always on her chest. Pearl belies that is the "devils mark, painted with her own blood". She is both wrong and right when it comes to this topic, its not the devils physical mark, but metaphorically yes. Hester tell her a lie, and Pearl objects it demanding the truth. And in the end Hester told her what she wanted to hear, not necessarily the truth as a whole. Chillingworth thinks that Dimmesdale is a horrible man but as quoted in the book he is called things such as, "Warm lover of souls", "natural piety", and "tough and study", he is a good man who make one sin, one mistake. Chillingsworth wants to prove this wrong. In the end that was the main point if these chapters we were assigned to read, and the questions were answered. Chillingworth was wrong about Dimmsdale, and Pearl was right about the marking on Hester's chest and its link to why Dimmsdale holds his hand over his heart. These were the main suspissions of these chapters, they are paranoid, and curious and NEED TO KNOW.
